Les Phillips Cup

Plymouth Parkway ended their season a high, defeating Premier Division champions Willand Rovers 2-1 in a hard-fought Les Phillips Cup final at Raleigh Grove in Sherborne. The fourth meeting between the Devon sides this season saw Parkway prevail for a third time, with a pair of first half goals proving to be enough. The opening goal came after just 14 minutes, with Adam Carter slotting home his 27th goal of the season from a Jamie Lowry cross. Lee Hobbs’ men doubled their advantage just after the half-hour mark, when another of their standout performers this season, Mike Williams, produced an excellent finish to give Mike Searle no chance in the Willand goal. Having won this competition on three occasions in the last 15 years, Rovers were looking to regain the trophy they last held after the 2014-15 season, but they could only manage one goal in the second half through Brett Worbey, falling just short of a momentous league and cup double.
